Today we got an early start and headed to the southwest side of the island to Waimea Canyon. We stopped at a lookout first and then made a hike to see some falls and other views of the canyon. It was really beautiful - very different from the lushness of the Napali coast, but beautiful all the same.
There were some challenging climbs and descents in this hike, too!

There were mountain goats down near the water below and beautiful birds flying through the canyon.
We spent some time taking in the view.
After the hike, we went to the end of the road to Wai'ale'ale - the wettest spot on earth. The clouds had rolled in and we couldn't see the northern coast like you can on clear days. Jeff and Jed liked walking through the clouds!After our journey out of the canyon, we enjoyed a pizza lunch (Hawaiian pizza, of course!). It was a great day!
