Family Weekend

We had a fun weekend in West Virginia complete with playing with Uncie in between World Cup games, celebrating Grant's 6th Birthday and celebrating Jackson's Dedication to the Lord!

Dancing on stage while worshipping - and getting the Marilyn Monroe effect in front of the fan!

Congratuations Cassi, Kevin and Jackson!

Katelyn entered this locker on her own - hopefully this isn't a preview for middle school!

Out of the Heat

That was the only requirement for today. Almost 100 degrees meant we were staying in the AC today! We spent the morning at the Maryland Science Center. Most of our time was at the waterplay table - always a crowd favorite! We had a really nice time - lots to do and see. It's fun since both Katelyn and Josh can make there way around and explore without much help. That keeps everyone happy!

Katelyn is most likely smiling after taking a drink! :)

Playground Fun

The good and bad news was that the kids decided to spend most of the time at the playground in the shade of the pine trees and dirt...they were filthy, sweaty and happy. I'll call that a good day!

Seriously...super cute pictures!

To the Zoo with Grant and Jackson

Grant and Jackson spent the night with us and we decided to take a trip to the zoo this morning. It was a beautiful morning to be outdoors!

Katelyn and Jackson watching the polar bear from the buggy.

Everyone took a turn driving!

Grant, Josh and Daddy look at some new animals.

Jackson, Katelyn, Grant, and Josh watch the zebras and the ostriches!

We splurged and took two turns feeding the giraffes. We couldn't believe how long it's tongue was - it took multiple attempts for the kids to feed the giraffe without dropping the leaves first!

This was pretty exciting!

Katelyn and Grant pose with Pumba.

The four kids were great and really stuck together. They are growing up to beome great friends!

We finished the day with rides! First we rode on the carosel...

And then we rode on the rocket bananas!

The Urban Pirate

On Wednesday morning, Betty and Betsy took Bailey, Josh and Katelyn down to Fells Point for storytime by the Urban Pirate. The kids were excited to go on the ship, though rain ended up being a complicating factor! We had a good time, enjoyed a story and song, and then left soaked, determined to try again another time!

The pirates on board were Blowfish Betsy (I can't make this stuff up!) and Scurvy Sarah - Josh didn't fully grasp pirate jargon, but we're going to start making that a priority - arrr! Letters and numbers can wait! :)

Pictures of the Week

Just a cute picture of Katelyn!
Josh asked for Katelyn to sit on his lap while watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse one morning. Katelyn agreed and they ended up laying down on the sofa. Pretty sweet!
Yep - that's right - right off the side of the deck.
Josh may potty train himself this summer while we're playing in the pool on the deck!

Josh and Bailey kept ending up "hiding" in the office when she was over playing. They would pull books off the shelf and read them while they waited to be found.

Josh and Miles played with cars tonight while Josh was procrastinating at bedtime.

I mean, seriously - Miles is SO CUTE!

Swimmming Fun

We had our end-of-the-year picnic for Capernaum tonight at the Brintnalls. Josh had a lot of fun with Daddy in the pool. He is tall enough to stand on his tiptoes and walk around the shallow end, which he thought was very cool.

Katelyn preferred pouring water in and out of the baby pools, but wasn't happy to be in the big pool. Who could blame her - it was cold! But she did like wearing her goggles - the next Dara Torres?

Our cat, Pop-Pop

What is better than us getting a pet? Our neighbor has an outdoor cat that is super friendly - Katelyn and Josh LOVE him! We often find him in our front yard or even on our deck. Low maintenance - we don't even have to feed him! Just chase him around and pet him. I asked Josh what his name is and Josh said, "Pop-Pop."

Future softball player?

And a lefty too? Jeff and Katelyn played catch and Katelyn consistently threw with her left hand too. We'll have to wait and see!

Rain, Rain, Go Away?

Not at Grandma and Pop-Pop's house! They make a rainy day fun!

Josh helped Gigi make chocolate cupcakes. He even brought in his frontloaders to help!

Katelyn approved!

Once the rain stopped, we went outside to work off some energy! Grandma suggested we play in "Lake Crossman" - it forms after every rain thanks to an uneven driveway! Josh and Katelyn had a blast and were soaked by the end!
