Deep Creek Weekend

We headed to Deep Creek for Memorial Day weekend with the Erdmans.

Here are the highlights.

Lots of mower rides for the kids. Wouldn't it be nice if they always waited so patiently?!

Photo op on the top bunk before bedtime.

Starting our bike ride in Ohioplye, PA. We biked about 8 miles with a hike midway. This has become one of our favorite places to go when we are in Western Maryland.

Katelyn was very focused on running on the trail. She was on a mission.

There was lots to stop and see...

...and explore!

A favorite part of the day - playing in river!
We discovered that we have water babies - it will be a fun summer!

We cooled down from the hot day with some ice cream. Katelyn, Josh and Parker wanted chocolate. Macy wanted pink - it didn't matter what flavor it was, as long as it was pink!

Last Day of School

Katelyn and Mommy joined Josh on his last day of school to help with an ice cream party. (Tough job, but somebody has to do it!)

We arrived during playground time to find Josh camped out in the shade digging with his BFF Ryan.

Mr. Dunn kept coming up with an extra person and had to recount. Can you see who is throwing off his count? :)

Ice Cream Party time complete with dinosaur sprinkles. Mr. Dunn even let them have seconds...life is good!

Walk with the B-Hive

We went on a walk with the Lightners on a nice evening. The kids did a great job on the mile stroll and held hands whenever they weren't running! It was very cute. About a block from the house, some little legs were getting tired, so they hired some packmules. :)

O Say Can You See...

The rain held off for an afternoon at Fort McHenry. Josh and Katelyn enjoyed exploring the fort, but the cannons were their favorites. We stayed for a cannon demonstration, which Josh was very excited about. Pop-Pop and Josh practiced hiding behind the walls to protect themselves from the cannons shot from the ships!

Dana comes to visit!

Dana came for a visit and we loved having her here. We had a relaxing time playing outside - Dana and Josh played some baseball, Josh dug for treasure in the garden, Dana and Katelyn played soccer and climbed trees.

For dinner, we made sushi. It was a first for all of us and we had a good time. We gave ourselves a B for presentation and an A for taste! Dana put together the Italian Roll (think Italian sub on rice!) and we also made a Spicy Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll w/ goat cheese and capers (so good!) and Spicy Tuna and Crab. We'll be having sushi nights on a regular basis now!

Mother's Day Highlights

There was a Mother's Day Tea at Josh's school on Friday. It was a really sweet morning. We had a special snack together and then colored a butterfly craft together. Afterwards, the students sang a springtime song for their mothers. They did a great job!

On Mother's Day, we went to Leakin Park for train rides. We hadn't been there since Josh's 2nd birthday - it was a really fun afternoon and we'll certainly not wait another year and half to go back!

Then we headed to Shrewsbury for dinner with Yia Yia and Gigi Gallo.

Happy Mother's Day!

Visit by Grandma Squires

Grandma came to spend a few days with us. She brought Josh and Katelyn a fun Thomas water mat and they had a lot of fun playing with that outside. Wednesday was a chillier day, so we played lots of games. On Thursday, we headed to the zoo. This time we explored the Maryland Wild Life portion of the zoo - complete with ducks, lillypads and farm animals. Thank you for coming to visit Grandma - we love this annual trip!

Go O's!

Turtle Josh

Who wouldn't want to visit the zoo after seeing this?!

This picture captures Katelyn completely. She's peaking around the goat to try to see his face and make eye contact. She does this with all the animals she encounters - she tries to connect!

Katelyn chose to ride the gorilla.
