Katelyn and Jackson's 2nd Birthday

We celebrated Katelyn and Jackson's birthday at Rich Farms again this year. We had a great time going on the hay ride, climbing the hay piles, being pulled by the tractor and going through the pumpkin patch. Last year Jackson and Katelyn shared a car, but not this year - It is amazing how big they are now!

High-Ridin'est, Rootin'-Tootin'est Birthday Girl Around

We threw a Jessie Birthday Party for Katelyn. It was a western-themed party complete with cowboy hats, bbq, and Jessie hat and Sheriff Woody star cookies!

Katelyn wasn't too sure about everyone staring at her and singing

But she was happy with the cupcake!

Playing in the Leaves with Grandma Crossman

We've had a bunch of beautiful fall days. Grandma and Pop-Pop Crossman's yard is full of leaves to rake and play in. Josh likes throwing the leaves. Katelyn likes it too, but closes her eyes regardless of if she's throwing them or if they are being thrown on her. It's really cute.

We love the fall!

Fall Fun

On Sunday we went to the Hereford Fall Festival. It was a beautiful day and fun to be outside.

Katelyn thought the straw was a lot of fun!
And Josh did too!

Josh and Macy stole away for a minute together...

...and so did Parker and Katelyn. Hmmm...

We went on a hayride - past the helicopter, monster trucks, and BMX race bikes!

Katelyn LOVED the giant pumpkins!

When we got home, Josh found a fuzzy friend on the front porch.
(Notice how the caterpillar is looking up at Josh too!)

He couldn't understand why the caterpillar would be afraid of him and curl himself up!

Josh and Katelyn

On Sunday, we played outside and rode bikes. As you can see, Josh was in a rush to get out and dressed himself. There was no time for pants and he put his dress shoes on himself!

On Wednesday, Josh told me in the morning that he wanted to wait outside on the front step for Parker to pick him up. He was watching some birds on our roof when this was taken. He looked so cute sitting there waiting!

After school we went over to Madison and Avery's to play!

Josh being silly!

Katelyn was giggling so much - she and Josh thought it was really funny that she put the raspberries on her fingers to eat them. The more he laughed, the more she laughed!

Kauai Highlights - Day 6

Today was our last day in Kaua'i. Our main agenda for the morning was to go snorkeling one more time. We headed through the tree tunnel, stopped at the spouting horn, and ended at Poipu Beach Park for snorkeling. This sounds like an episode of Dora the Explorer!

Spouting Horn
We actually didn't take any pictures at the beach. The southern side of the island is lovely and full of beaches. This is where we'd like to spend some more time next time we visit. :) After we had lunch (one more fish sandwich - yummy!) and dropped Kate and Jed off at the airport, Jeff, Betsy and Stacey headed out to see a few more sights.

'Opaeka'a Falls

Wailua Falls

Wailua River
Here are some photos of our hotel. We stayed at the Marriott in Lihu'e.

The pool area was really great. You can see the beach behind it.

We walked around some of the houses on the cliffside near the hotel and we were able to capture these photos of the hotel.

A wider shot of the bay.
We had a great time on this trip. Thank you to everyone who made it possible for us to have a getaway! Mahalo!!!
***If anyone is planning a trip to Hawaii, we HIGHLY recommend any of Andrew Doughty's guidebooks to any of the islands. We used Kauai Revealed for this trip and Maui Revealed for our honeymoon - he has never let us down!!!!***

Kauai Highlights - Day 5

Today we got an early start and headed to the southwest side of the island to Waimea Canyon. We stopped at a lookout first and then made a hike to see some falls and other views of the canyon. It was really beautiful - very different from the lushness of the Napali coast, but beautiful all the same.

There were some challenging climbs and descents in this hike, too!

Jed, Kate, Betsy and Jeff

Jeff and Kate got brave and got close to the edges.
Jed and Betsy just got nervous. :)
There were mountain goats down near the water below and beautiful birds flying through the canyon.

We spent some time taking in the view.

After the hike, we went to the end of the road to Wai'ale'ale - the wettest spot on earth. The clouds had rolled in and we couldn't see the northern coast like you can on clear days. Jeff and Jed liked walking through the clouds!
After our journey out of the canyon, we enjoyed a pizza lunch (Hawaiian pizza, of course!). It was a great day!
